Craft Politics? Snubbing? My work sucks?

Your guess is as good as mine ;-)

For the third year in a row, I have attempted to take part in a little craft show in a little town at a little curling club and for the third year in a row, I have been forgotten, left out, passed over, fell between the cracks and consigned into the oblivion. (There's a pun and a rant in that last one *L*)

Oh ye, the UNWORTHY, ye have been dismissed.

Who are you again? (This comes from the woman who signs the cheques at one of the 'consigned into oblivion' locations -- she has written my name and mailed said cheque to my address for the last 3 years)

What type of craft do you do? (See above)

Well if you do jewellery, then we don't want a bunch of jewellery people! (I do seaglass jewellery with SILVER -- not the same old copycat junk made with beads from Michaels and cheap nickel wire)

I also know they probably don't want my textile artisan work, because SHE knits with cheapie acrylic yarn. You know I'd love to go and sit, work on some spinning to promote myself and the textile museum while I'm there..

I remember once, one of the potter's said (notice I said ONE of the potters -- there are THREE or FOUR of them, after all, and THEY are all members, not one of the lowly consigned into oblivion) she said I should bring my SEAGLASS earrings in because a customer was looking for seaglass earrings and they didn't have any!

Well holycrap!

BUT -- I was told not to bring pieces like are already in there because I was less likely of having them JURIED & APPROVED for sale in the gallery -- "we don't need any more jewellery."

BUT -- another "grey head" came in with sand dollars made into necklaces, and they gave her a membership after telling me that they weren't open to members.

I say "another grey head" because it seems unless you have grey hair, you can't become a member. Or maybe you need to be a rich person of said little town's founding families. Or maybe, your husband needs to be a retired little town university professor.

Or you need to be someone who copied something out of a book, and then they'll give you a membership. I've seen that one too.

Or maybe, you live in the quaint, historic, coastal village about 15mins away from said little university town, and therefore, you are definitely DISMISSED!

Hey, if I told them I lived in an important, historic, Victorian house, would that make a difference to them ;-)

Ahh man, all I can do is shake my head and laugh..
But I'm not moving to the little town so they'll accept me~*hee*~...
I'll live quite happily if I don't get into this little craft show..
I find it highly amusing when people ask me if I'll be there and I say no, then they ask me why, and I just smile and say because the organizers keep losing my address or something, ha ha..
