No Reiki at Catholic Hospitals?
Sometime last year, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops released a statement saying the ancient healing practise in Japan known as reiki is "superstition" that "finds no support either in the findings of natural science or in Christian belief."
In an email I received this morning, it was noted that many hospitals in the Boston area are not permitting reiki treatments in addition to shutting down reiki treatment centers located within the hospital premises.
There can't be anything wrong with a type of healing where a person BELIEVES they are being healed, and feels better for it.Our minds are powerful, and the potential for the brain to heal the body is largely untapped, especially by "modern" medical science.
It seems, with a medical system in place for profit, there's more money to be made keeping people sick than healing them.
I'm not saying the Catholic Bishops are in cohoots with American "big pharma", but money talks, as we all know.
As for "superstition", I believe many religions, including Catholicism are FULL of superstition. They just call it something different ;-)
